The Sony VAIO TP1 is an extraordinary product from Sony. Its unique design and attractive features make it a stylish home-theatre PC for your living room. The round shape of the VAIO TP1 will catch the eyes of anyone entering your room. Of course, you have to pay a bit more for it. The Sony VAIO TP1 Living Room PC is available for $1,600.

The VAIO TP1 uses Intel VIIV Technology, and its main board consists of a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo T5600 on Intel 945GM chipset. It has a RAM with 2 GB of 667MHZ DDRIISDRAM.

While considering the performance features, it is definitely not a competitive PC capable of performing weighty tasks such as high-definition video recording or high-end video games. However, it will cater all your needs of a standard entertainment environment by facilitating the watching of standard DVDs, playing iTunes, TiVo-style recordings, etc.

The cost factor will be a concern for all. While many PCs including HP’s Pavilion Media Center TV m8120n, Dell’s Inspiron 531 and 531s, or Velocity Micro’s, etc., yield somewhat the same performance with less price, the VAIO TP1 is to be rated as a luxurious option for a normal user.

However, the VAIO TP1 still occupies a decent status in your living room owing to many features that it possesses. It has all essential accessories that make it a performer of all the tasks that it was intended for. It can play the standard-definition DVDs with 1080 pixel resolution. It has the built-in HDMI output that is responsible for the enhanced output features. The Intel GMA 950 graphics and the Dynamic Video Memory technology together complement the graphic performance of the VAIO TP1.

Other main components included in the VAIO TP1 are an 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi adapter, an ATSC/NTSC TV tuner, and an optical digital audio output. The VAIO TP1 comes with a built-in fax/modem that can have a performance speed of 56kbps. In addition to these, there is a media card reader provided on the front panel of the PC.

The front panel is hidden inside a door provided and a magnetic back-panel covers the back side of the PC neatly.

The software included in the Sony VAIO TP1 are Sony Click to DVD, Microsoft Works 8.5, AOL Online (90 days trial), Microsoft Office 2007 (Trial), and Norton Internet Security 2007 (60 days subscription).

The input system consists of a wireless keyboard and a Vista remote control. The keyboard is attractive, and it has a touch pad added to the front edge of it. The VAIO TP1 does not require a mouse.

Sony offers a one year onsite warranty for all its components and accessories. It includes parts replacement and labor coverage. Additionally there is telephonic as well as online support available from Sony.

The VAIO TP1, as most other products from Sony, stands out in the crowd due to its special features. Therefore, this would be an ideal option for those who wish for a gadget that makes them different from others. Be prepared to shell out a few extra dollars for it.
