Could you give birth without knowing you’re pregnant?

Having a baby can be one of the greatest experiences of your life; whether you’re a male or a female. A baby can bring joy to so many people; especially during the nine month pregnancy. Those nine months overflow with excitement and anticipation. There’s planning, announcements, parties, showers, etc. The nine month pregnancy allows the parents to prepare.

But what if you couldn’t prepare? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Amanda Brisendine. She had no preparation at all. She claims they talked about names on the operating table. In fact, she didn’t know she was pregnant until 36 hours before giving birth. The baby’s father, Jason Britt, couldn’t believe the news. Their new baby boy, Alexander, was born on a Sunday. The Thursday before, she was still working.

But how is that possible? How can a woman be nine months pregnant and not know? Well, doctors say it’s not as uncommon as you may think.

Amanda claims that she was feeling a little different during those nine months, but she didn’t accredit it to pregnancy. The thing was, Amanda already had pre-existing problems with her ovaries. So she was used to have irregular menstrual cycles. Not only that, she thought her weight gain was due to the fact that she had just quit smoking.

Many women go into their first pregnancy unaware of the symptoms. But Amanda already has a 14 month old daughter. She claims her pregnancy with her daughter provided all the standard symptoms while her pregnancy with Alexander provided none of them.
